Artist Michael Conti previews his June 21 Solstice exhibit at the UAA Student Union Gallery

Photographer Michael Conti plans to focus thinking about the winter and summer solstice by creating a camera obscura within the gallery. He’s found a way to represent or mingle the images and sounds of a winter solstice with those of a summer solstice. He’s interviewed here by Kathleen McCoy, recorded June 18, 2012. The exhibit will be up from June 21-July 12. Summer gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Parking is always free in campus parking lots on Fridays. For more information, email the Student Union Gallery at gallery@uaa.alaska.edu.
