AKNOS 2012: Polly Andrews of Chevak, "Cracker and Crisco," humorous storytelling about Native cuisine

The Alaska Native Oratory Society celebrated its 10th anniversary with a an opportunity for orators to share spoken word, rap, poetry, humor, storytelling and commemorative narration. The theme for 2012 was “Bravely Facing The Issues: Celebrating Oratory in the 21st Century.”

This segment presents Polly Andrews of Chevak, a student at UAA. Her humorous story is titled “Cracker and Crisco” and includes details of Native cuisine, including the art of pukuk-ing (a special way of savoring bones), and the qualities of stinkheads or uqsunaaq .
