First Lady of Anchorage Mara Kimmel spoke on the topic “Adventures of Misfits & Intrepeneurs: Creating Justice and Change From the Inside Out.”

Dr. Kimmel is a former member of UAA’s Department of Political Science and works at the Institute of Social and Economic Research studying and researching issues of Arctic governance. She is also the co-founder of the Alaska Institute for Justice, a statewide nonprofit providing free legal services to immigrants, including human trafficking victims.

This lecture was presented as a joint partnership between the Women’s History Program and the Department of Political Science. It is free and open to the public.
