Dr. Lyn Freeman presents 'Evidence-Based Nutrition for Chronic Disease Prevention and Recovery, Part 1'

Lyn Freeman, Ph.D., LPC earned her degree in psychology with an emphasis in mind-body therapies (i.e., meditation, relaxation, and imagery) as medical intervention for chronic disease.

This two-part event in “Research in Action: The Behavioral Medicine Lecture Series” will focus on timesaving strategies for busy people. Dr. Freeman will show you how to create a week’s worth of cancer-fighting, chronic-disease-preventing, portable meals in one 4-hour cooking session plus ten minutes preparation each night.

'Hunger in Urban Alaska: The Daily Lives of Pantry Users' with Tracey Burke

Tracey Burke is associate professor in the School of Social Work and is the recipient of the 2011 Selkregg Community Engagement & Service Learning Award.

She has conducted exploratory research to reveal the background stories of local food-insecure families and has worked in partnership with the Food Bank of Alaska.

In this podcast, hear the results of Burke’s research along with additional hunger study data that may challenge the way we think about poverty and hunger in our community. This event is co-sponsored by the UAA Campus Bookstore with the Center for Community Engagement and Learning.
