Lloyd Cluff is a internationally known expert investigator of major earthquakes and their causes. In this talk, he recounts milestone quakes and lessons learned, but not necessarily followed.

His talk is sponsored by the UAA School of Engineering and the Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission, with support from the Ralph and Marie George Engineering Professorship Fund. He is introduced here by colleagues John Aho of the Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission and Orson Smith, interim dean of the School of Engineering.
