In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission to uphold the rights of corporations to make unlimited political expenditures under the First Amendment. Since that time, there have been several calls for a Constitutional amendment to abolish “corporate personhood,” calls which have intensified recently. This event is part of a series sponsored by the UAA Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence since 2003 to offer the Anchorage community access to university resources as a basis for discussions of policies and issues affecting its future.
