UAA and APU Public Debate

Should all Alaska university educators, researchers and scientists be required to attend an Alaska Native-designed and run cultural orientation program? The University of Alaska Anchorage Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) and the UAA APU Engaging Controversy Project hosted a public debate and discussion surrounding this important question. This free event took place on Oct. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the UAA APU Consortium Library, room 307.

Preview of How Could Anyone Lead UAA?

If you missed the musical satire How Could Anyone Lead UAA? presented last spring, check out the video preview below. The satire features performances by UAA faculty and staff about the fun and humor of life at UAA.

The satire was written by faculty and staff with musical accompaniment by the Fabulous Van Clifton. It features Dawn Berg, Doug Causey, Minty Cochran, Steve Colt, Jan Gehler, Mari Hahn, Jim Liszka, Tom Miller, Kerri Morris, Jane Park, Libby Roderick, Bryan Talbott-Clark, Barb Tullis, Wendy Withrow and others.

A DVD of the performance is available for donation through CAFE. Proceeds go to the UAA Sustainability Fund.

Alaska Quarterly Review celebrates 25 years - Interview with the Editor

On Oct. 3, 2007 Professor Spatz and AQR were featured prominently on Radio National’s Book Show (Australian Broadcasting Corporation). Titled “Off the Beaten Track with the Alaska Quarterly Review,” the interview covered AQR’s 25th anniversary and other subjects.
