Book of the SemesterAn enthusiastic panel met with students and staff in the bookstore recently to discuss UAA’s Book of the Semester, “The Tortilla Curtain” by T.C. Boyle. The discussion sparked controversial thoughts about immigration services and the treatment of illegal immigrants in the United States. T.C. Boyle will be speaking at UAA on the 27th of March in the Wendy Williamson Auditorium. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book yet, this podcast will give you a good inside look at its key points and several views on the overall work.

Crunch Cons

Crunchy ConsRod Dreher, presented his lecture, “Crunchy Cons” on the blustery evening of March 1 in the Student Union Cafeteria. Despite the weather, the event captured a fair sized audience who were intrigued with Dreher’s traditionalist remedy for the Republican party. Rod is also the author of “Crunchy Cons: How Birkenstocked Burkeans, gun-loving organic gardeners, evangelical free-range farmers, hip homeschooling mamas, right-wing nature lovers, and their diverse tribe of counterculture conservatives plan to save America (or at least the Republican Party).” Here is his entire presentation.
