UAA Debate Team Hosts the Irish on Campus

The Seawolf and Irish Debate teams met for their second event in the Fine Arts Builiding. The house was packed with enthusiastic onlookers and they were not to be disappointed. Once again, quick wit and other slighting humor were not lacking. The motion for the evening was as follows: Anti-American sentiment is justified.

The first of two debates between the Seawolf and the Irish debate teams took place in a local Anchorage pub. Surrounded by a more casual atmosphere, speakers from both sides were at their best. Quick wit and good humor are evident throughout the event as they debate the motion that the North Korea Deal is a major step towards global nuclear disarmament. Grab a pint, sit back and enjoy!
The Survey of Living Conditions in the Arctic (SLiCA) has gathered data over the last ten years from the indigenous people of Canada, Russia, Greenland, and Alaska. The study focused on what these people think about where they live, and what is important to them about living in the Arctic. Below are the results of the ten year study presented by members of the SLiCA research team.
Dr. Alex Hills spoke about four stories of engineers who volunteered their time to make a difference to communities around the globe. These stories include specifics on what was done in planning for and developing important structures including hospitals and schools. Dr. Hills ended his discussion by talking about the various opportunities for engineering students at UAA to make a difference in not only the world but in their own communities.
