Modern Lessons Through Ancient Alaskan Languages

PolarisAlan Broaas has been a Professor of Anthropology at the Kenai Peninsula College for thirty-four years. In recognition of his extensive work and dedication to the history and language of the Dena’ina, he was made an Honorary Member of the Kenaitze Tribe. During the Polaris Lecture on Feb. 15, Professor Boraas discussed the tragedy of the extinction of ancient Native languages, what we can learn from the people, and also raised questions on how we will preserve the invaluable traditions and languages of many Alaskan tribes.
