Community Forum: The future of Alaska Native education

The UAA/APU Books of the Year program hosted this community forum on the future of Alaska Native education.

Panelists included Paul Ongtooguk, UAA College of Education; Linda Leal, Bartlett High School teacher and Mt. Edgecombe High School graduate; and Martha Gould-Lehe, Alaska Native Cultural Charter School. Libby Roderick was the moderator.

Panelists addressed the current K-12 system, challenges to providing culturally complete and relevant education for Alaska Native youth, and new models for effective Alaska Native education.
