UAA Kicks off Alaska Civil Rights Month 2012

2012 marks UAA’s 27th year celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy and Alaska Civil Rights Month.

Dr. Dewain Lee hosts this kick-off event that includes a proclamation from Chancellor Tom Case, UAA student Mya Dale recites MLK, Jr.’s Nobel prize acceptance speech and words of wisdom from Reverend Alonzo Patterson and our Director of Diversity and Compliance Marva Watson.

UAA anthropologist Diane Hanson describes 2011 excavation of first upland house on Adak Island

This event highlights the full excavation by graduate and undergraduate research students for eight weeks in the summer of 2011. Hanson teaches in the UAA Anthropology Department. Her talk was a part of Alaska Native/American Indian Heritage Month 2011.
