UAA Anime Club holds 4th Annual Senshi-Con Convention

February 21, 2008

The UAA Anime Club is proud to present the 4th Annual Senshi-Con Convention. For the last three years, Senshi-Con has offered the community a chance to experience mainstream Japanese culture. Senshi-Con is sure to have something the entire family can enjoy with such events as video game tournaments, ramen noodle eating contests, cosplay competition (“cosplay,” a word derived from “costume” and “play,” means to dress up in a costume of your favorite character), and autograph sessions with renowned artist Brett Uher and published author Che Gilson.

Senshi-Con is unique, even in the world of conventions. The first Senshi-Con, held in 2005, was completely organized by high school students. More than 300 people came from all over Southcentral Alaska to experience the festivities. Every year since then, attendance has more than doubled for each Senshi-Con. This year, event organizers expect over 1,000 guests. The staff now comprises college students, and with UAA supporting Senshi-Con every step of the way, we expect this year’s Senshi-Con to be the best yet. Come be part of the legacy!

Alaska’s 4th Annual Anime and Video Game Convention will be held Feb. 23 at the UAA Student Union from 12-9 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door or $12 at the door with a costume. For more information or to save on the admission price by registering with Senshi-Con, visit www.senshicon.org.
