Recent M.F.A. grad Sara Loewen publishes her first book

Sara Loewen, who graduated with an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Literary Arts from UAA in 2012, recently published her first book. Sara’s debut, “Gaining Daylight,” is a memoir that tells the story of her life on two islands: Kodiak, where she spends the winter teaching writing at UAA’s Kodiak College, and Uyak Bay, where she spends the summer fishing commercially for salmon with her husband and two sons.
