Welcome to another new semester! Here’s a roundup of news and notices from around campus to help you start the semester right.

Important academic dates for spring 2013
(Please note that because of the closure on Monday, Jan. 14, many of these deadlines have been extended by a day. All dates below are accurate and up-to-date as of Jan. 15, 2013.)
Monday, Jan. 14: First day of classes
Tuesday, Jan. 22: Faculty approval required to add classes
Tuesday, Jan. 29: Add/drop deadline; deadline for 100 percent tuition and fee refund; payment deadline; credit/no credit deadline
Wednesday, Jan. 30: Withdrawal period begins online; credit-toaudit period begins
Friday, Feb. 1: Deadline for section swaps
Monday, April 1: Deadline to apply for spring 2013 graduation with name in the commencement program
Friday, April 5: Credit-to-audit deadline; withdrawal deadline
Friday, April 26: Deadline to apply for spring 2013 graduation
Monday, April 29: Last day of classes
Friday-Saturday, April 30-May 4: Spring finals
Sunday, May 5: Commencement

Parking enforcement resumes Monday, Jan. 14
Parking enforcement resumes on the first day of classes, Jan. 14. Parking is enforced Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Visit the Parking Services website for information on parking permits and violation fees.

Seawolf Shuttle service resumes Monday, Jan. 14
Seawolf Shuttles start running for the spring semester on the first day of classes. This semester, the Shuttles will be running Monday-Thursday, 7:45 a.m.-8:30 p.m., and Friday 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Visit the Seawolf Shuttle website for more information.

Spine between Engineering and Science Buildings closed through Jan. 25
The portion of the Spine between the Science and Engineering Buildings will be closed for renovations until Jan. 25. Remember to keep safety in mind when choosing an alternate route. For more information, contact Facilities at (907) 786-4900.

UAA Campus Bookstore is open
The UAA Campus Bookstore is open for all your textbook needs. For the spring semester, the bookstore will be open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

If you need to sell back any of your old textbooks, the bookstore is also offering textbook buyback on the following dates:

Thursday-Friday, Jan. 10-11, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Monday-Wednesday, Jan. 14-16, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

All campus dining spots are open
After scaling back hours for winter break, all on-campus eateries and coffee shops are once again open and operating with regular hours. For a full list of hours and locations, visit the Dining Services website.

New hours for University Center Bookstore and UAA Perk
The University Center Bookstore and UAA Perk (also located in UC) have new hours for the spring semester. They are:

  • UC Bookstore
    • Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
    • Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 

  • UAA Perk
    • Monday-Thursday, 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m.
    • Friday, 7:45 a.m.-3 p.m.

LRC debuts new hours for spring 2013
The Learning Resources Center has new hours for the spring semester:

Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 12-5 p.m.

For individual lab hours, please visit the LRC website.

Campus will be closed Monday, Jan. 21
Campus will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr./Alaska Civil Rights Day. There will be no classes or Seawolf Shuttle service.
